Launched in October 2011, iLab has been live for three months. With Macquarie University's examination period about to end, the demand to use its computer laboratories – both physical and virtual – is about to experience its annual end-of-year drop-off. So we thought that it was a good time to do some number crunching and report how iLab has performed since being unleashed on the university community.
Below are graphs that illustrate the usage of iLab's two desktops – Microsoft Windows 7 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard. It is worth noting that Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays are the most popular days for users of the iLab Windows desktop and that, understandably, overall usage of the product began to fall at the start of the exam period.
Everything is going well and according to the iLab team's plan. There have no major issues reported regarding iLab's systems, infrastructure and capacity.
