Macquarie University's united approach to greener campus printing iPrint.mq.edu.au launches today. To coincide with O-Week 2014 we're beginning with student and public printing locations. iPrint for staff will progressively follow throughout the year.
iPrint is a simple and consistent experience that lets you print from anywhere connected to the Internet and pickup from anywhere on campus, anytime you like. It's easy to collect your documents, just tap your CampusCard (or other authorised card) at any iPrinter.
iPrinters are located in student all access areas including Library (C3A), MUSE (C7A) and Digital Lounge (C5C). Faculty of Business and Economics students can also use iPrinters located in E4B computer labs. Each iPrinter can print, scan, copy and offers black and white and colour options. Find your nearest iPrinter location here.
Why use iPrint?
iPrinting is just like printing to a standard printer with a great set of extra features including...
- Place-shifting convenience. No more lining up for a busy printer or suffering from a broken one.
- Reduced paper waste. No forgotten printouts
- Time-shifting convenience. Print multiple documents and collect only once.
- Privacy convenience. No more leaving confidential documents on printers or release station desktops.
- CampusCard convenience. No need for any other card.
- Fast. iPrinters offer modern high quality, high speed technology.
- Colourful. Option to print in colour as most iPrinters are colour capable, so you'll look great in print.
- Scanning and copying. Tap your CampusCard and scan and copy as normal.
All staff, students and library patrons can use iPrint. Your documents are held in a campus print cloud and collected from any iPrinter located in open-access areas and in a growing number of restricted-access areas.
For students and patrons, iPrint replaces the previous Unicard system and offers increased flexibility. We've added more recharge stations around campus where EFTPOS or cash can be used to top up CampusCards or purchase reloadable debit cards for printing. Find them in the Library (C3C) levels 1, 2 and 3, MUSE (C7A) level 2 and in the Digital Lounge (C5C) computing labs.
Today, staff can also take advantage of the iPrint experience as an add-on to local printing. Tomorrow, iPrint will transform the way we print as a campus and contribute significantly to responsible carbon footprint reduction for the University.
We're adding more and more iPrinter locations over time, keep an eye on maps.mq.edu.au.
